ending of book
I think that Amar will go find Hassans son, then kill some bad guys, then come back to America with Hassans son. He is already in Afghanistan to look for Hassans son, and has learned that the orphanage he was in was destroyed. Amar continues to search for Hassans son, and learns a lot about what has changed.

independent reading 2nd post
Since it is fictional, not very much of it is going to move me in any way, but I found some significant facts (fictional ones, that is) about one of the main characters who's name is mariam. She is a bastard child of a wealthy businessman who got mariams mother (nana) pregnent when he was in the area for some reason. He has many other children, who mariam hears are all taken care of in his palace type house or whatnot. mariam wants to go be with him so she doesnt have to live in poverty as a bastard child (which is shamed upon, both of them). she never mentions it though, because of her mothers hate for the man.

Amir

is a coward, which is probably why Baba doesnt like him as much as Hassan.
Thats pretty much what I got from the book, that Amir is not as good a person as Hassan. Amir is jealous of Hassan about the respect he gets from Baba,so much so that he frames Hassan and has him sent away. This event will influence the rest of his life, in that he feels guilty and wants to find a way to make up for it.

story

I really cant think of a story for this, it just reminds me the the scene with the special forces in the gully in the movie 'clear and present danger', as theyre chased by a hundred or so members of some south american military.
I have no idea what this guy is doing, probably some courier service, maybe practicing for if radios arent working, i have no idea.
and now the picture button isnt working...

decisions

some decisions i have made in the past determine where i am now and what decisions i have now to make. one of the most influential decisions has been becoming a volunteer firefighter. Because of that, I have chosen to go to college for Fire Protection Engineering. I believe that it is a good decision to make, because there are more people with those in demand, than there are available, so I will be able to have a career very soon after i graduate with a degree.

My normal spring break...
...was mediocre. It was average in the sense that I spent a standard amount of times doing run of the mill things. The weather was ordinary so I casually walked. Entertainment was typical. I am quickly running out of synonyms to the word average.
So now this comment post will end, as usual.

There are not many characters in the book at all, after all (yet again) it is more of a documentary read than it is a story. The main 'characters' are numerous officers and enlisted who are on the 'frontline', and MacArthur. The book doesnt really well represent any of the characters or any of their actual actions, so there is not much to go by.

some of the huge dilemmas (some already mentioned in earlier posts) are the slow advance, the pedantic planning, and the lack of forward HQs and effective frontline command as a result.
As already mentioned, the slow advance gave the enemy more than enough time to respond and restabilize, which is obviously, not good for the American forces.
The pedantic planning with phase lines and nobody being able to do anything without everyone else in position, caused many delays, because one group could hold up everyone else, and often did.
the lack of forward HQs caused communication problems and slow responses to attacks and such, the trouble behind that is obvious.

What surprised me about the whole operation was how slow the advance from the beach head was. The commanders here knew what could have happened (another Anzio), and failed to fix it. despite the fact that this is considered one of the most successful military operations ever, that is one of the flaws that people say negates it as 'noteworthy'.

I think that the author should have written the book in more of a story form rather than how it was written. A lot of the smaller things seem to be left out of the book, like details from the personal experiences of the many smaller characters in the book. There is a large amount of information overall though.

The books title is simply "Inchon"
sounds more like a tourist guide, or the next generation of HEADON, APPLY DIRECLTY TO FOREHEAD! products
The title is named for the location of the battle. There is not much else that can be said beyond that. It could have been more creative though, as in how the book on operation market garden is titled "a bridge too far", or "the Steel Wave" about operation neptune and overlord. All I can really say is, it isnt a very creative title, but im not even really sure what I would have named it. Maybe something to spin off of MacArthurs quotes, considering he planned the whole thing.

I believe that the authors style does not add much to the book. had it been written by someone else with a more exciting way of writing, the book would be far more readable. in its current state, its stale and boring, the only exciting parts are the first person accounts of combat, and even then it can be ridiculously pedant.

If I were to advise the characters on their choices I do not believe that I would have much to add if I knew how it was going to end up. It is viewed as one of the most successful military operations in history, the only problem is it took a whole ELEVEN days to go only TWENTY miles. This was a problem caused by "phase lines" and other ridiculous things that shouldnt ever go beyond paper because theyve been proven to be too costly and allow someone to respond before the lines are secure. This was proven in WWII when Montgomery constantly insisted on drawing phase lines on maps and sticking to them, frustrating many others because they believed that the only way to fight a mobile enemy is to remain mobile, not in silly attack, hold, wait, positions while the rest of the line catches up.

I believe that if there were to be a theme to this book (remember, its more of a documentary), then it would be that we should appreciate the great minds of the leaders and the great will of the soldiers who did their jobs to keep the original American ideals alive.

In the first chapter of the book, it pretty much talks about the state of the [korean] war at the time (1950). It talks a bit about the prelude to the war with the Japanese and the soviets and all that, which arent very important to this post in detail.
The only criticism I have about this part is the 'boringness' of it. I compare this to the introduction to "the Steel Wave", where the introduction is a summery of the great state of panic and the disparity of the allied nations involved in WWII, the politics behind it and before it.

what did ernesto want to be thing
what he wanted to be is unclear, mainly because lots of his ambitions contradicted each other later in life. eventually though, it seemed that one his his goals was to have people go back to the barter system of trade, or at least that was the only alternative to what he hated, currency and capitalism. when he was younger, his interests made more sense, such as becoming a doctor.

In one town, they help the fire brigade and volunteer for the town. they gain many rewards from this. this may have influenced him that when people volunteer for the betterment of a community, things end up better for everyone.
pg.64
"ive forgotten to explain that after spending the night at the lieutenants house, we decided to move to the fire station.."
id have a picture that reflected this, but the only ones on google when you search 'young ernesto guevara' and other things, are pictures of his poster, him with a gun, book covers, or obama, so this shall have to do.

if the picture isnt showing, blame ceeje

values
I value our history as people. I believe that we can learn more from our history, than anything else. Many mistakes could have been avoided had people known what the results of previous attempts were.

if youre reading this and dont understand the significance of the picture, then i suggest you read up on your history, for we dont want to repeat it.

apples
I don’t see much similarity between this situation and Ernesto. Yes, they both involve people fighting, but that’s about as far as it goes. One thing I don’t understand is, why we are helping Pakistan, when they have in the past and currently are, fighting our allies.

ernestos mission
Ernesto wanted to eliminate all of the capitalists ideals in society, and run a country at the same time, which doesnt make sense, because you need some type of trade system if you want a country to be productive. did he expect to barter? i dont know, but any alternative has been proven to not work, what i do know is that 90%+ of the countries that have ever been communist, have abandoned it because its been proven to not work.

hypothetical road trip to bikini bottom (where spongebob lives)

first i would go to the krusty krab and get a krabby patty, with no cheese, because i dont like cheese. then i would go back up for air, because its underwater, but then someone would tell me that you dont need air there, because the spongebob universe doesnt follow the rules of ours, which is why they can have fires and stuff down there. then i would go say hi to everyone because i couldn't think of anything else to do. eventually i would meet spongebob and patrick, then congratulate them for being on TV for 10 years. i would then annoy squidwerd because everyone and everything does that. the end.

Glenn beck on che
I agree with Glenn Beck on this issue and specifically many points on it. I think that too many people today are ignorant of history and its lessons. It is a shame when we allow people to parade the faces of fascists and murderers in a good light, it is no different then parading Hitlers face on a shirt. we may as well just let people dress up as einsatzgruppen for Halloween, and burn down all the Jew occupied houses.
I think Glenn Beck portrays his points by comparing them to other historical events, rather than just shouting out opinions with no basis like many media outlets.
In terms of his motions and such, I can't criticize them at all, because everyone does it. some people are more charismatic than others, which certainly helps get a point across even when it's foolish (think: hitler, stalin, or even, gasp! obama). At least this guy gets his point across without making a nit of himself like Mr. Bush, who sounds like he's trying to read to a kindergarten class, or at least a populace with the collective intelligence and whiny-ness of one.
